WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE OF

PEGY

the UK based support organisation for those involved with parenting and teaching

Profoundly and Exceptionally Gifted Youth

It is estimated there are around 1000 profoundly and exceptionally gifted children between the ages of 5 and 18 in the UK.

Why is an organisation like PEGY needed?

Provision for gifted children in schools is improving daily, but exceptionally and profoundly gifted children are further from gifted children in speed and depth of learning than are gifted children from the norm. If their social, emotional and academic needs are not met they are at risk for depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and underachievement, all of which can continue into adult life.

PEGY aims to:

-         support the children and their families.

-   propagate knowledge and expertise in educational planning and strategies within local authorities, G&T bodies and schools

-         support teachers, schools and Universities

-   support educational psychologists

-   support and instigate research in this field in the UK

PEGY is a voluntary organization with worldwide contacts in the field of exceptionally and profoundly gifted children.

Information on the educational and social and emotional needs of exceptionally and profoundly gifted children (that is, the top 0.01%, or IQ 160 upwards) and the ways in which PEGY aims to help them and their families, carers and educators will be here soon.

In the meantime you can contact PEGY by e-mailing pgwebmaster@btinternet.com
